Grumble, grumble, grumble....

Why is there such lack of imagination when it comes to Dwarves?! With Elves or Orcs there is a degree of innovation and trying out different ideas as to how to portray them in terms of culture, appearance, styling and so on. But with Dwarves it's always the same old shit time and again. Huge nose, massive beard, a couple of tonnes of armour with vaguely Nordic runes on them and bloody great axe or hammer. Has no-one tried to something different with them?! It's for this reason I am going to try to give the short-arsed little bastards a new look. Thinking maybe Greco-Roman...

I agree. Dwarves do seem to be the one of the few Archetypes that don't get much attention from artists or writers. Hell, as you said, Orcs get more attention (if only slightly. Culture doesn't really seem to change, but a lot of other things do. Like personality).
I want to see Dwarves with swords.
And Magic Staves.

And without drinking obscene amounts of beer and hording gold...

Alba Gu Brath indeed! (A mate of mine plays drums for a band with that name) I hope to get something done soon myself, I'm just not to great at drawing figures so I'm little self conscious. This journal post was really just me having a moan but it seems I've struck a chord as it has received more responses than any other journal I've posted!
